Welcome! :)

My name is Sebastian Kahl and I am a research assistant at the CITEC (Cognitive Interaction Technology) at Bielefeld University. I work in the Social Cognitive Systems Group led by Prof. Dr-Ing. Stefan Kopp.

My main research interests lie in the question on how humans form dynamic meaning representations within and without the context of a conversation.

In my PhD thesis I have investigated the intra-personal coordination of mentalizing and mirroring processes in the so-called human social brain, as afforded by inter-personal coordination in humans. To that end, I developed a probabilistic and hierarchical model for embodied virtual agents that grounds perception, production and inter-agent coordination on principles of predictive coding, anticipation, and close coupling of perception and production processes.

My background is in Cognitive Science (BSc. from University of Osnabrück) and Informatics (MSc. from Bielefeld University).
